Nice International Music Festival and Academy (NIMFA)
NIMFA is a major artistic event dedicated to contemporary music, interdisciplinarity, and innovation. This annual gathering brings together artists, composers, performers, and researchers from around the world for a creative dialogue and bold musical exploration.
NIMFA is structured around two main components: an academy and a festival.
The academy, launched in December 2023 under the name Horizon Étendu, aims to support participants in their integration into professional artistic ecosystems on an international scale, through a combination of online and in-person activities. It is open to candidates of all nationalities and offers specific support for participants from underprivileged regions or those facing economic, social, or political challenges.
The festival is committed to showcasing the latest aesthetic trends in contemporary music and interdisciplinary works, while also highlighting key pieces from the post-war era to the present. Its programming features works by the academy's young composers, emerging artists, and established figures of the international scene—contributing to the vibrancy of the local artistic landscape and attracting a broad audience. Rooted in the city of Nice, the festival forges connections between music, other artistic disciplines, and new technologies. It places a strong emphasis on cultural diversity, environmental responsibility, and gender equality.
NIMFA stands out for its collaborations with internationally renowned institutions and artists, offering a unique platform for original creations and multicultural exchanges.
More than just a festival, NIMFA is an immersive experience that invites audiences to rediscover contemporary music through an innovative and inspiring lens.
