Alireza Gholamian (b. 1999) began studying music by playing the Tar in 2008. He performed as a finalist in the 9th, 11th, and 13th National Festival of Youth Music. In the 11th festival, he was awarded third place. In 2018, he was accepted into Tehran University's Faculty of Fine Arts to pursue a Bachelor of Iranian Music performance and studied under the guidance of the best masters in both Iranian and classical music. As a student in the Fine Arts faculty of Tehran University, he had the opportunity to study classical music history, music theory, harmony, and counterpoint with instructors such as "Sara Abazari," "Mohammadreza Tafazzoli," "Azin Movahead," "Mehrdad Pakbaz," "Sohrab Kashef." Simultaneously, he began experimental composition and studied the works of great composers. Alireza later explored contemporary composition with "Karen Keyhani," and with him, he composed some music for solo and ensemble. Throughout his university journey, he participated in numerous solo and ensemble performances both within and outside the university, collaborating with orchestras like the New Music Orchestra, dedicated to performing contemporary music by Iranian composers and founded by Alireza Mashayekhi, one of the most significant Iranian contemporary composers. He also contributed as a choir member. As he continued his studies in composition with Karen Keyhani, Alireza developed an interest in electronic music. He delved into this subject with Parham Izadyar, focusing on Pure Data and gaining practical experience in real-time composition tools. In the summer of 2022, he participated in a workshop for contemporary music and studied with Ardavan Vossughi. Since then, he has continued his studies with Mr. Vossughi. During this period, he applied for various calls for scores and composition competitions. Recently, his piece "Just" for baritone saxophone and double bass was selected for the Seyr call for scores, published by Spectro Center. This composition is scheduled to be premiered by Michele Bianchini (saxophone) and Giacomo Piermatti (double bass) in the 21st of May in Berlin for the Unerhörte Musik festival. He got accepted into Horizon Étendu online composition academy and won its full scholarship and there he is worked with Lidia Zielińska. Today, Alireza dedicates himself to composing new music, predominantly in acoustic settings for solo instruments and ensembles, while also exploring electro-acoustic music. His works prominently feature timbral materials, and he actively seeks new sounds and creative ways to combine them to construct strong musical structures. He is deeply influenced by Iranian traditional music and tries to find new ways to use unexplored aspects of that music in his compositional language.
