Arsalan Abedian was born in 1984 in Tehran, Iran. His acquaintance with the world of music was through Santur lessons with Omid Sayareh in 1994. His got his first composition lessons with Farid Omran. In 2007 graduated from Azad university with a bachelor’s degree in Composition, and in 2011 from Art university of Tehran with a master’s degree in Composition. His prominent composition teachers in Iran were Kiawasch Sahebnassagh (instrumental composition) and Shahrokh Khajenouri (electronic music). As a dedicated member of “Yarava Music Group” (one of the few ensembles and societies for new music in Iran) he has participated in many concerts, lectures, and a great number of other musical events since 2006. In 2009 he established “Contemporary Music Records”, a Cd-label for new music in Iran. Since 2003 he has written and translated more than 40 articles about contemporary music, in music journals like “Honare Musighi” and “Farhang va Ahang”. Abedian studies composition (M.Mus) with a scholarship by Joachim Heintz, Oliver Schneller and Rebecca Saunders at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover in Germany. He is assistant in electronic studio at Incontri, institute for new music at HMTMH. His works have been performed by different ensembles like Esbjerg Ensemble, Ensemble Mosaik, musica assoluta and Ensemble musikFabrik in festivals like KunstFestSpiele, Musik 21, SinusTon, ZKM next_generation 5.0 and Csound Conference in Germany, Denmark and US.
